Internal Conflict in the 4T Over Meddling in Guerrero Affairs

The Mexico City Secretary of Mobility held an event in Guerrero, sparking discontent from Governor Evelyn Salgado and her supporters. This has led to a political crisis within the ruling MORENA party, where capital officials are banned from campaigning without resigning from their posts.

Internal Conflict in the 4T Over Meddling in Guerrero Affairs

This occurred after the Secretary of Mobility, Héctor Ulises García Nieto, held an event in Guerrero that sparked discontent from the ruling party led by Governor Evelyn Salgado. As reported by LPO, at the end of last January, the Secretary of Mobility and the General Coordinator of Human Capital, José Carlos Acosta, led an assembly of the movement 'Building the Second Floor of the Fourth Transformation' in Chilpancingo alongside Senator Beatriz Mojica, who aspires to run for governor next year. For example, the Secretary of Government, César Cravioto, could run to be mayor of Gustavo Madero, while Tomás Pliego could get involved in the elections for Cuauhtémoc. This scenario is repeated in the local Legislature. It is for this reason that the former mayor of Iztapalapa confirmed that no person in her government will be able to engage in political campaigning and that, in any case, they must submit their resignation to engage in proselytizing activities. This sparked discontent from the state's ruling party, which is lined up behind the current head of state, Evelyn Salgado, who has important disputes with the member of the upper house. Héctor Ulises seeks to meddle in Guerrero and the internal conflict of the 4T towards 2027 erupts. Because of this, the local president of Morena, Jacinto González, stated that 'one cannot use the name of the Doctor (Claudia Sheinbaum) to apply internal pressure' and pointed against the capital's officials, whom he accused of 'making offhand comments in cafes and large hotels' and not alongside the people in the different communities. Meanwhile, the president of the State Council, Marcia Elsa Valencia Guzmán, added: 'It is incredible that someone who does not live in Guerrero comes as if it were a fiefdom to say who can or cannot represent the movement.' This generated a strong dispute that reached Mexico City by involving two key officials from the administration headed by Brugada, such as the Secretary of Mobility and the director of Human Capital. The next elections will be held next year, but within the ruling party, movements are already underway and disputes are taking place that anticipate the electoral scenario. In any case, there are other figures from the capital's cabinet who have political ambitions. In this context, the Head of Government of Mexico City, Clara Brugada, announced that any person in her cabinet must resign to carry out proselytizing tasks and activities. With more than a year to go before the elections, political intentions within the 4T of Mexico City are beginning to emerge, but for that, first, those figures who seek to take that step must take a previous one: resign. In the Palace of Donceles, there are several names aspiring for a mayorship in 2027. This list includes, for example, Gerardo Villanueva, who is raising his hand for Coyoacán; Valentina Batres, who is doing so for Álvaro Obregón, just like Fernando Zárate; Pedro Haces Lago, for Tlalpan; or Valeria Cruz and Martha Ávila for Iztapalapa. 'Perhaps, at the right time, whoever wants to will have to leave the government,' was added. Morena does not define the law of fair rents and its treatment is delayed. In this way, Héctor Ulises García Nieto and José Carlos Acosta were left in the middle of the controversy involving another state and a recognized figure within the 4T, such as Senator Félix Salgado, father of Governor Evelyn Salgado.
